Hand update

Good word on the hand from the micro-surgery hand specialist

"Gee we really got those bone shards back into place pretty good. Angle seems to be in pretty good alighnment"
my favorite.
"Well humpty Dumpty isn't quite back together again, but it's pretty close."
and
"Don't move your finger! You've got 2 1.2mm screws and one section with 0.8mm wire holding that bone together. It won't take much to rip the out."

In the end I'm looking at 6 months for full healing, and maybe I can start to do stuff with it after 3 months. Until then I'm going to Physical Therapy, which consists of them reshaping my splint ever few days and causing me pain. In another week they get to start manipulating the joint, and maybe I can start doing that after another month or so. Yes I really did screw up the bone-joint juncture that much.

How am I going to do the painting thing? Still not sure. I've started by re-organizing my office to make it more conducive to progress. But in that effort it looks even worse right now. By this weekend I should have some new shelves up to free up more work bench space. Then I can start to look at it again. I have the use of thumb, index and middle finger still, so I should be able to still work some painting.

Swift kick to the... Hand?

Well well well… The painting blog currently looks to be just 3 stages past rigor mortis. So time for some updating

My progress has been pretty low. I did manage to finish off the Everblight Warpack for Rob and handed that off to him on July 7th. Unfortunatley they are no pics available as the miniatures were finished about 10 hours prior to handing them off, and those 10 hours included sleeping and working nearly a half a day.

However after that I have hit a brick wall. Went on travel the week after finishing the Everblight Box and I also managed to break my hand, requiring out-patient surgery to screw a finger bone back together. So painting is still taking a back seat. I tried so attempts last night, and now my bandages are speckled in “Everblight Grey” skin wash. I’ll likely try and get back into it while healing, but I’ll probably focus on the everblight, which seemed to take well to carefull dry-brushing and washing techniques.

Progress and Plans for the first week in July

Thanks to yet another contemptible carnivean collapse I did not meet the goals of the previous week. However Llylth and the last shredder were finished easily. Right now, thanks to some secret information from Jeff M. The carnivean is curing with an adhesive with previously unknown bonding power. It took me most of the week to assemble the arcane ingredients necessary for the adhesive (bat guano, newt eyes, the dust of a unicorn hoof) only to discover on Sunday that it is also sold pre-made, in two parts, at Home Depot. Jeff swears by this stuff and claims to use it solely for assembly now. I don’t think I’ll be able to do that myself as it takes each piece roughly 6 hours to get tacky, and 24 hours to cure.

Plans for this week:
Finish off the Carnivean by Wednesday night and then get going on the Skorne Preatorians, I’ve actually gotten their armor base coated in my spare time, so I’m hoping to get them about ½ way finished this week.
